Therapy for Women in Raleigh, NC

Who are you when you stop trying to get it all right?

You’re expected to hold it all. The family, the career, the relationships, the emotional needs of everyone around you. Nobody says it out loud. It just becomes the job.

So you handle it. You’re the capable one, the dependable one, the one people count on.

Then one day you realize you’ve lost sight of yourself.

Maybe you hit the goals you set at 25 and felt less than you expected. Maybe motherhood changed who you are and no one told you how to feel about that. Maybe you’re worn out on an ordinary Wednesday and can’t point to a reason. Maybe one quiet question keeps showing up: Is this the life I want?

If you’re searching for a therapist for high-achieving women, you probably already know how to look fine. That’s part of what we’ll look at.

Reconnect with the parts of you that got pushed aside.

There’s usually a voice in the background. It says you should have done more, said less, started earlier, been warmer, been tougher. It sounds like you, so you’ve mistaken it for the truth.

Most of the women I work with would never talk to a friend the way they talk to themselves.

Two things can be true at the same time. You can be proud of what you’ve built and quietly worn out by the standards you built it on. That voice learned its rules somewhere. It can learn new ones.

What we’ll work on

Reconnecting with yourself. The parts of you that got pushed aside didn’t go anywhere. For some women, that’s the identity shift that comes with motherhood. For others, it’s a career that stopped feeling like theirs. We’ll make room for who you are now and who you want to be.

Boundaries. If you’ve been the dependable one for years, saying no can feel like a betrayal. We’ll practice it anyway, and we’ll work out what you actually want to say yes to.

Relationships. Partners, parents, friends, kids. We’ll look at the patterns you bring into them and what you need from them.

The inner critic and success on your terms. We’ll get to know where the critic came from and what it’s trying to protect you from, then decide which of its rules you still want. We’ll also get honest about what success means to you, not the version you inherited.

“Is this the life I want?” Sometimes the answer is yes, with a few changes. Sometimes it’s a bigger shift. We’ll take it seriously without rushing you toward a decision.

What sessions feel like

My style is warm and direct. I’ll tell you what I’m noticing, and I’ll gently push when I think it helps. There’s room for humor, too.

You also get to be someone who doesn’t have the answer for 50 minutes. You don’t need an agenda. Bring a mood, a frustration, or a vague sense that something’s off, and we’ll start from there.

I’m a licensed clinical mental health counselor with more than 10 years of experience. I hold a certification in Women’s Mental Health, and I’ve worked in community mental health, telehealth, a Raleigh non-profit, and a group practice before opening my own studio. I’m also a wife and a mom, and I know firsthand how hard it is to hold it all together.

If motherhood is a big part of what’s weighing on you, my page on therapy for moms goes deeper on the mental load, mom guilt, and the postpartum stretch.

Why me?

Here are some common questions women ask before booking a session, if these don’t cover it, let’s talk in a free 15 minute consultation about the other questions you have.

Questions women ask before they book

I should be able to handle this on my own.

You probably can handle most things on your own. You’ve proven that. Therapy is for the part where handling it is costing you something. You don’t need a crisis to start, and you don’t have to figure it all out before you walk through the door.

I’m not sure what I’d even talk about.

That’s a common place to start. We’ll start where you are, and I’ll ask the questions.

Is it worth the cost?

Fair question. Sessions are $170 for 50 minutes. I’m out-of-network, and I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. The free 15 minute consultation lets you ask about fees and fit before you commit.
